Default Door Linkage

Has anyone ever had a problem with their door linkage? I started my car this morning to warm it up, and when I came back, the driver's side door would not unlock or open. I managed to shimmy my fat *** in from the passenger side and just went to work anyway. About 30 minutes later i was able to unlock the door using the key fob, but the lock switch on the inside door panel still has a ton of play in it and doesn't lock or unlock the door.

It was 1 degree this morning with a pretty low wind chill, so I'm wondering if any plastic pieces of the linkage broke from the cold.

Got a date with the Nissan dealer this afternoon, cause I'll be damned if I'm going to pull my door panel with a -15 wind chill!

WHOOPS, wrong sub-forum. Mods, please move this to the Body or repair section. Thanks!

Have you been in the door skin for a speaker installation? The connection between the handle and the locking mechnism is pretty simple. It could be there or inside the door latch area itself - either way the dealer is likely needed.

I haven't been in the door on this car, but on my last car, I was able to pull out the linkage and install with out too much of a problem. I have a feeling the inside door lock connects with a plastic bracket or clip, and that's probably what broke from the cold.

Low temperatures and high humidity will cause problems with locks. I recommend that you use the key and not the fob.

Tried to use the key, but the lock was frozen shut this morning. Even when I got to work, the actual tumblers were still not moving. The dealership said they should have the linkage pieces in stock (which I really don't believe) so I'll see what happens.

Update: Turns out a linkage rod just shimmied its way out of the plastic lock connector. Nothing broken, no other problems...although the linkage really shouldn't just come out of place. The ends are fairly large, and it would take a HELLUVA lot of vibration to get it to more up and out.
