Default Cubby opening problems?

On my 04 the cubby doesn't want to open good. If you push the button nothing happens, is there a way to make it open easier? I did a brief search and didn't come up with anything. Also, how hard is it to change the whole cubby with another, mine has a big scuff on the door.

It is not hard to change out the cubby but you could try fixing if first.

Before I go off explaining things, do you have the early door that rolls into the dash (only sticks out an inch) or the later door that flips up (and the whole thing sticks out)?

well I know it goes up slowly into the dash, not sure about one that sticks out.

If you press on the top part while pushing the button, it opens easy every time.
