Default Freaking pot holes!!!!

I hit a put hole today and my rear view mirror pretty much landed on my lap. Is there a way I can fix this quickly? I feel naked driving without it. At lest to my luck my TE-37s went unharmed.

How exactly did it fall off? Did the mount come loose from the glass, or did the mirror assembly fall out of the mount? Basically, is there a piece of metal still stuck on the windshield?

You need to replace the windshield. Try see if the dealer will cover it, something like that should NOT happen just because of a pothole, no matter how big, that's a glass failure.

Go to a reputable glass repair shop if you're not under warranty and you have comprehensive insurance. They will inspect it to see if the integrity of windshield is still OK for insurance and safety purposes and in either case will put the mirror back on.

I know the insurance will cover it, but I also have warranty, but wondering if they will give me crap for having low profiles tires and make that as the cause for the crack.

I can't imagine that. I can see it now. Warning labels on low profile tires saying "use of these tires may cause windshield failure which may result in Death or Serious Injury".

If they do, ask them if it is customary for the windshield to break when someone with stock tires runs a curb. It would be about the same thing. Let us know if they try to get out of this one. Use your warranty and save the insurance claim/deductible.

Well if you see the road I was in, you will know why I hit the pot hole instead of going down the cliff. very norrow road with uncoming traffic.
