BALSARINI, "New Shot"

You know what is also funny, how quickly people will buy "knock off" body parts, but people freak out when someone buys "cheap" 1000-1500 dollar sets of wheels. If I were going to do this, I'd go with the original designer, Balsarini.

Even that I love that spoiler, I'm still concern about the method use to instal it to the car. I'm just wondering if is possible to add some bolts at the moment of installation to secured it better. Could this cause any damage to the integrity of the spoiler.

Since the spoiler is made of FRP. You might crack the FRP by screwing it on. Best way is to have a metal screw hole inside ths spoiler. But it's too late... I have over 20 sets made already...

I think you guys are underestimating this stuff. It isn't like the stuff you buy from Wal-Mart. I've had a crowbar trying to remove an aluminum framed sign panel from a metal building on this type of tape, and it ended up bending the sign a bit before it finally broke free.
this 3M tape is no joke! It would seriously be easier to pull it off if it just had screws in it! A friend of mine recently bought a civic for cheap because it had some ugly body kit taped on it, seriously took him ALL WEEKEND to get the ugly POS off! tried everything short of a pry bar, finally had to use a torch to get a knife red hot and quickly slice through 6 inches at a time, what a PITA!
Jay,
How thick is the fiber class on your spoilers? Please give me the specs on your wings.
I just purchased a Balsarini spoiler and the damn thing is paper-thin. It's a two-piece construction completely hollow in the middle and the seam along the bottom of the spoiler has stress fractures everywhere. If someone leaned on this spoiler it would definitely crack. Two different body shops have stated my Balsarini wing is a POS. $600 bucks down the drain.
Thanks!

I notice that when I got my original balsarini wing from Japan. It is very flex and soft. But what's good is, it is very light. You're right, it is very easy to crack if press down hard. My version is heavier cuz it has more layers of frp and it is very hard. Center is still hollow, but if you press down hard. It won't dent in like Balsarini one. My is also two piece consturction. Bottom is very smooth, just like the top. --- Jay

this stuff expands and becomes quite dense and strong once it dries. 6 bucks a can at Home Depot
JDMZ33:
If one were to purchase your wing, would we be able to fill in the hollow section with the stuff krinkov suggests after it was delivered, or would it have to be done beforehand? More importantly, is that something you'd even recommend, or with the extra layers (compared to the Balsarini), do you think the wing doesn't need anything else?
Lastly, have you sold the first one yet?

I would be careful with that expansion foam also. That stuff can create some high pressure in confined spaces and may distort the shape a little. Also, look for differences in what type of foam you use. Double expansion is the most I would use... as opposed to tripple.
you guys shouldn't worry about 3M tape.
If you use the right stuff all is good. The same stuff is used in the aviation insdustry to hold certain parts to aircraft.... you can't just rip it off unless you put some serious effort into it.

I know a couple former outlaws who use to boost car parts when they were younger...
They told me that since the 3m stuff is equally distributed on the surface of the car... it's insanely difficult to take off on the fly.
It is much easier to rip off a bolted spoiler because it has undistributed pressure points. Besides, would you rather have someone attempt to take a spoiler off your car that is stuck to it via a strong adhesive? or bolts that will screw up your car?
An unsuccessful attempt at a 3m spoiler is much prettier than an unsuccessful attempt at a bolt on. You end up paying more taking care of the damages left from a mounted and bolted spoiler....than just going out and buying a new one. GRANTED if they take off the 3m spoiler.
But if you're putting on those super duper street fighter 2 double decker attack rocket power air sailing spoilers than thats another story....you better bolt those on.
