Default Factory Primer

Hey guy. does anyone know the factory primer color for a 06 DB z is. I have to get a bumper paint and need the factory primer color to get a better match. A color code might help to. if they have those for primer.

does it really matter what primer u use...i thought [rimer was primer and paint is the thing u have to match. no??

It does matter. I'm not sure for DB. Call a good paint shop with the color code.

i beleive it is a dupont primer as dupont (chromabase) is the type of paint they use (ON SILVERSTONE AT LEAST)

sorry my dealership is dumb. i thought for 06 we use ppg paint. i guess for the primer it dont really matter company. i just need to get the color close. im thinking its going to be a lite color for db

Primer shouldn't matter as the base coat needs to be color matched correctly. Clearcoat thickness will matter as well, depending on how many coats of clear is put on... Even after color sanding the base coat will shine through differently. It is really up to the painter's skill and color matching to make it perfect. Every factory uses their own specialized paint, dupont, ppg etc are aftermarket paint companies. I know paint pretty well as I have some experience with body work. It's not my profession however. Any neutral color such as gray will work fine.

yeah I was thinking of using gray. I didnt want to use something to dark. cause that would make the db come out more darker then normal. the primer does play a role in it. say you paint two white car. one you use black primer and one you use white primer. they could come out different cause one would be darker then the other.
