Help with "Personal" steering wheel
So a few buddies and myself did the steering wheel install today. We ran into a few problems. The good news is that we installed everything and the horn works (after ALOT of dremeling). A few issues:
1. VDC and SLIP Light stays on
2. Blinking airbag light on.
Adam @ Z1 provided the resister to override the airbag light, but I'm not exactly sure where it goes. Also, how can I get rid of the VDC and SLIP light? I understand that is it probably a wiring issue, but not sure whats the best way to tuck in the wires as room is VERY limited. Also, my wheel is slightly un-centered. Any recommendations to fix this? Some quick pics of the issues:
Other then all the warning lights staying on (VDC/SLIP/Airbag), the steering wheel feels great. it was a big difference from stock. I feel much more in control of the car. Glad I waited for the 330mm version of this wheel..
THANKS.

for the slip/vdc.
the little thing that turns where the hub is mounted to is 1 full revolution over, so the ecu thinks the steering angle is way off. edit you just have to turn it back the full revolution and you should be okay.
it looks like you have the resistors connected correctly for the airbag and they are supposed to be wound up exactly like that inside the hub. just make sure you have the connections tight.

damn...everyone is quick to answer.
i'll reaffirm what the other two said.
my steering wheel is also off by 2-4 mm to the left. it's either that or a lot to the right.
i don't see how much more wiggle room there is as the splines on the short hub and the steering shaft can only line up in certain places. i tried spinning it, readjusting it....not much I could do.
might just go in to an alignment shop and have them center the wheel when they do the alignment.

i got mine to line up perfect, the trick for me was driving straight up to where i was working without moving the wheel - i just parked and worked on it in the street. i have to turn pretty sharply to pull into my garage and i was having the same problem getting the wheel to line up straight it was either a few mm off to one side or like 1/2 turn to the other side.

Well, I tried the suggestions provided by Moroccan_Mole and took the car for a cruise. All lights disappeared except for the airbag code. I'm not sure if my resisters are faulty or not. Then I didn't like the position of the steering wheel so I decided to remove the steering wheel and hub to make a slight adjustment. No problem, right? wrong! VDC and Slip came back on! So a few more attempts of rotating the plastic piece in both directions, and still the lights stay on. I'm going to try it one more time and see what happens....

there are 2 plugs when you remove the factory wheel - one resistor goes in one, one goes in the other. Since its a resistor there is no polarity, and it does not matter what resistor goes where
As far as the SRS light, you'll need to do the SRS reset procedure on it to get the light to go away
The trick to installing these is making sure that either the wheel is perfectly straight, and not altered as you do the install, or, marking things off with some paint or a marker as you do it. If you turn the spiral cord one way or the other, the lights will come on and never go off. This is because the steering is tied to the ecu side and the ecu moniters steering wheel angle.

Thanks again Moroccan_Mole for the tips. I followed your suggestions again and the VDC and SLIP light went away yesterday night. I was hesitant in posting in case it magically came back today. But I'm happy to report that I drove the car to work (about 20 miles), and no issues! However, the flashing SRS still remains even after the reset procedure. I will probably bring the car to my friendly Nissan dealership to see if they can reset it. If not, then at least I will know it's probably the wiring, or maybe a faulty resistor.

the reset procedure needs to be done exactly, and on time, or it won't work
When I installed my NISMO airbag wheel, it took me 3 times of doing it to get it right. If you have a cipher I think you can turn it off right from the software

glad to see you got the vdc stuff worked out.
keep trying the reset procedures for the srs light, as adam said, the timing on it has to be EXACT.
