Default pulled over by the cops for LEDs

a cop pulled me over friday night for having hyper white LED clear corners and back license plate lights. he said it emanated a blue colored light that is illegal and said the next time he catches me, he's going to take my car. he spoke with a touch of anger for some reason (I was being very polite) - i don't know if this is really a big crime or does he just dislike ricers. now, is he allowed to take my car if he catches me again or is he trying to scare me?

Take your car? No, he can't do that. But, he will write you a ticket. Turning signals MUST be yellow or orange. I have Sylvania SilverStar bulbs that appear to be this funky metallic rainbow color but blink in orange. Completely legal.

That cop is nothing but a loser. Just get regular lights, or go over to your local pd and ask them what the laws are on your little lights. If they say its all good then have them put that in writing, next time this jackass tries to play tough guy make sure you get his name and badge #.

I can't imagine those hyperwhite bulbs are illegal anywhere...you aren't allowed to have blue lights, but if the cop thought that was blue, he's just a retard

I took this from your CD page. You call this white? Even considering a camera's auto white balancing error, it's easy to see why you were pulled over. Cop had every right.

those are def blue, looks like youre in for a LED change. white turn signals are fine, but if a cop sees blue at all you're getting pulled over.

DavidV I feel your pain. I had WHITE LED's as marker lights on a show truck and was stopped by a local cop- and told basically the same thing. He said they looked too much like blue emergency lights but they were definatly WHITE. I didn't want to argue so I pulled the wire. Maybe the cop had blue contacts or something.

Hyperwhite aka BLUE!!!
1) Officer is correct about have blue lights.
2) Depending on local laws he might be able to impound your car.
3) Doubtful he'll actually impound you car over lights.

Now if you had flashing blue lights and inpersonating a law enforcement vehicle/officer, except some type of jail time. LOL
