why do that davidv. Every 350z came with a tow hook stock. In the end i would have 6 tow hooks sitting around. I understand the core charge etc and how itd make it easier but it shouldnt be too hard for someone to ship me a tow hook.

That is unless Vo wanted to have a red and a blue just to see the difference and may life easier on him.

You do it to make your customers happy. That way they send you payment and when you have their hook, you can send one immediately back without any delay. In the end, you powdercoat all of them and sell them and have nothing but money left.

aren't you in college?! sheesh, sure isn't doin much for the ol' brain! :-p

lol..........what about the extra six that no one would want. Those tow hooks arent cheap either. that would be over $200 in parts tied up. Someone would have to pay 55 bucks for a pc'd tow hook and then try to unload their old one and theyed never get the 35 bucks that the hooks cost at the dealership.

theres a reason why they have sales departments and the engineering department separate.

just spent nearly 100 bucks on powder too!

thanks ghost, maybe i can get a pic tommorrow.

I believe what he's doing is cool. I'm sure he's not trying to make a full time business of it. It's looks more like a hobby and he's trying to share some of his skills with fellow forum members. Sounds like an even trade for me. If a fellow member wants the custom product enough they'll do what it takes, like I did. It's really no sweat. A little paypal'd cash up front and a week or two wait. Heck I wait 6 or 7 months for my ARC parts.

Yes, but it would then be THEIR job to get rid of it, and with the profit that you pulled on the others, you could likely take a slight cut to ditch the final 6. It's just investment to start something good for the community. You could recoup it, or sell the last ones on egay for more....

and who is they? that have different departments? was that towards me?

do those swivel as well as fold? does build quality really seem up to the job of towing? That seems like a much nicer option for a street car going for a race look.

Bottom line is that he would risk not selling them and losing out on that. Why should he stick his neck out for the "community"? He's arleady doing something good by offering this. If he did this to help the community and he didn't sell all of them, would the community help him pay for it? - NO. turn around time is only about a week anyway, whats the rush w/ something like this?

They, as in companies. If the companies let the engineer decide the amount of money he was willing to invest in a project................well the company wouldnt be around any longer. Im sure you know that you have to build a machine to last, do what you say itll do, and do it for the lowest $$$ possible.

Also, the tow hooks vary through the years. The 06's have a larger thread base. So they are incompatible with my 03. I dont know how the other years compare, but im sure the 06-08 are the same.

It would be quite an investment to have tow hooks handy. I already spent about 100 on powder with only 2 people wanting there hooks done. theres no way id spend another 240 to have spare hooks around.

My turnaround time is quick enough to make it doable.

BTW, I gotta paypal those monies to you today. Sorry, I was extremely busy Friday and don't have t3h interwebs access on the weekend. I'll get to it later in the day. Have you checked the UPS site to see if the tow hook is coming today?
