I also believe the weight plate being removed would help.
From what i understand there is a 5 lb weight behind the plastic in the hatch.
I could be wrong, but it's something to think about.

honestly the hatchback shocks are suppose to last you at the most 2yrs. the only cars i had are hatchbacks. it shouldnt even be the weather, first of all. i think its the quality of the shocks. i have a 99' honda civic hatch that i just got rid of it and the shocks are still in good use. then again, im the only owner of the car. so if your car is used, it might be the first guy.
