Default Custom Dash

Just wondering if anyone out there has done a custom dash on their car yet? Or if any of our numerous DIYers could help me out with some steps on how to paint my dash blue so it will match my cars exterior. Also I am planning on painting the rear strut tower brace and need some help in finding a paint that matches the db and will adhere to plastic. Thx

do a search. I think I've see 2 that are painted, one CF and some with dash aluminum 'stickers'. Just get the color code of your car's paint and have a body shop do it.

How much do you think that would cost?

i was thinking about doing some of my dash trim to match the color of my car, and if you want it to look perfect and flawless, its a *****, but you should sent your pieces out to WetWorks. They do that kind of stuff all the time and it looks badass. Im taking off the trim pieces and sending it to them, you will be without it for about two weeks but its worth it. If you dont want to do that just take it to a body shop they can do it, im sure that it will look fine but remember WetWorks does that all day every day while body shops probably dont come across dash painting that often.

Ya i figured it would be a pain to do it yourself but 200 isnt all that bad if i can find a local place. I dont know about sending it off that takes too long. I know a couple of local shops that might do it ill just request some pics of their work before i commit to anything.

it might be more, Im not familiar with painting, and these parts could be difficult to paint, or special paint might be needed(probably would be, cause it has to flex or it would crack) so it could be 400, or 600, who knows, it was 250 to paint a whole rear bumper, but thats simple even tho it is large.

thats why its best to send it to Wetworks, because they know how to paint dash, they specialize in it. Body shops might not know how to do it properly, because it is very different than painting a bumper.

Ok after reviewing some of the other interiors i have seen painted it looks kinda funny to get just the center console painted. But on another note i have decided to get all of the silver pieces in the interior (gauge rings, steering wheel, strut bar, and handles) done up in db. Thx for the info guys i appreciate it and that wetworks place sounds like a good shop i will look into it. Do you think they could also paint my black engine cover to db?

Your black engine cover is an exotic ABS blended plastic. ABS alone will begin to deform at around 180 deg. so they add hotter plastic to keep it in shape. Question as to whether it will accept paint to begin with (gain adhesion) Painting not recommended because of underhood heat. Not during running but after shutdown, heatsoak may blister it. It's a cheap part though, what the hell you got to lose. Try it.
