How close is the Asuka and the Mastergrade CF roof?

I have the ASUKA Roof.. and love it!

They are identical. same mold, same process, just another guys infusing them

You can't go wrong with either, both are amazingly great quality !

do you really have to sand the roof to put the carbon asuka roof overlay on.

Yes. You must rough up the clear in order for the epoxy to bond properly. I don't trust the 3M tape that came with the roof, so I epoxied it.

If you plan to epoxy you should sand you existing clear coat so it can adhere properly. We've installed half a dozen with the 3m double sided tape provided and none have had issues. It's really up to the car owner and what they feel more comfortable with. Cars looking sick MD

I have never seen a CF product look good after 2-3 years of sun exposure

Come check out my RSX. 3 years strong no fading or oxidation. It's all about caring for your car.

Huge +1 on that. Take the extra time to fully take care of your ride with any carbon parts on there and it'll be fine. Regularly wash it, wax it when needed. Take the extra time to park in the shade when at all possible, even if you have to walk a little further.
