Looks like a great idea, but it has to flow with the rest of the car. The R8 is a border line exotic car and the led's are just an accent. On a more "stockish" Z these headlights would take away from the car (imo). I hope this turns out ok, looks great so far and I want to see them at night as well.

the thing about L.e.d is that they will burn out after a while I had a couple L.e.d bulbs burn out once in a while. Had to open the housing, replaced them and put the housing back. I got tired of doing it after the third time so I disconnected them all...

Sorry if I sounded discouraging...
The only reason your leds burned out is either from being over-driven, or heat from the bulbs. If you space them atleast 3-4 inches away from any bulbs, and make sure you choose the correct resistor, the leds will last longer than your car.

To the OP - not my cup of tea, but kudos on trying something new and different. Post up some finished pics.

Yea it does look ricey I don't really like it....i think it would look a lot cleaner if you had just cut a hug rectangle out in the same shape the leds are now then get a translucent peace of plastic and put around 50 lead in it and put it so it is flush with the rest of the plastic surround...It would look a lot cleaner and you wouldn't see the LEDs until they are lit.

Hmm...not sure why you chose to point them upwards. They will not appear as bright to a viewer this way. These could be mounted into a housing facing forward and then installed into the headlight assembly.

Ive always like the LED's on the R8 and on the A6 or A8?? Good job man. cant wait to see pics of the finished product. While you're at it you should paint the chrome parts on the headlights. Might look cleaner that way.
