IT'S HERE ! ! ! !
Andy at Performance Nissan has delivered the goods! Now we just have to wait for it to be sent to Texas and get installed/painted on our 2006 Grand Touring Interlagos Fire (with the Vortech). We can't wait. We will post pictures as soon as they are ready. Until then, these should whet your appetites

But that's not so bad, is it? We think the Z is what the 911 would have been had Porsche had the courage to abandon the rear-engine, air-cooled, flat cylinder layout that the 'purists' insisted upon and modernized as good engineering dictated. Nevertheless, it will give us adequate cooling for the supercharged engine and look damn good while doing it.
At this time we have not considered doing the sides or rear, they look good enough for us, for now. That may change............of course.

/\ /\ /\ Lots of times. We lived in Germany and owned a 944 Turbo (the Autobahn's were a blast) and were in a Porsche AutoClub, so getting a chance to drive the latest and greatest was always available.
No, I am most definitely not bashing the 911, it is a fantastic car and the engineering is first-rate (for all of the handicaps it must make up for). My criticism is directed toward the marketing decision to retain the antiquated rear-engine, air-cooled layout long past the time when it would have been best to update to a front-engined, water-cooled, V-block layout. Given the tremendous changes in mechanical engineering, materials engineering, computer engineering, chemical engineering, etc. , etc., etc.,.....the sensible thing to do would have been to abandon the traditional configuration back in the late '70's or early 80's. The failure of the 928 and the 944 to inspire the intense loyalty that the 911 still enjoys today dictated otherwise and I think the 911 is less of a car than it could have been. The Cayman does quite well with a lot less equipment to compensate for a poor layout.
Not hating, just observing
