Default '07 DRL's

Does anyone know what color the ignition wire and the parking lights wire is on an '07 350z, I can't seem to find it anywhere on the net and its not the same as the older Z's, they must have changed it in '06 along with the newer headlights. I checked a few wiring diagrams but still couldnt figure it out.. any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

Green w/ white stripe and Black = Parking Light
Green, Blue, Black = Running/Blinker

As for ignition, which one?

Well i have to run daytime running lights for it to pass inspection in canada, so what i tried is using a 30 amp relay, I wired the Green w/ white stripe to pin 30 on the relay, and then i wired the white w/ blue stripe (i thought was ignition) to pins 86 and 87, then i wired pin 85 to a ground. But it didn't light up the parking lights so i obviously did something wrong.. now i'm trying to figure out what it was i did wrong. I used the parking light wire out of the driver side kick panel, and the ignition wire from below the steering wheel

Why not just splice into the green w/ white stripe for 12+ and then either wire the ground into the same ground as the parking light? What exactly is your DRL? 07 Headlights have the blinker as their running light too.

DRL is either the low beams on all the time, or the high beams on at partial intensity. Does having the parking lights on meet the requirements?

PS - you must have bought a used Z in the states and imported it. How much do you figure you saved?

parking lights work for meeting the requirements and passing inspection, So i figured i would just leave the HIDs out of this and deal with the parking lights instead..

After paying GST,Duty, and shipping the car up here, I would guess I saved between 8000-10,000$

After you wired the relay, did you check if the switch on your steering column still turns on your parking lights?

I read on a different forum of a guy describing how he wired his '03 a similar way that you've described and he used a black wire w/ red stripes at the ignition harness (under the steering wheel). However his description was also that he tapped into a red wire with blue stripes as the parking light wire into pin 30(which is not the same as what you described). Now I don't know if the difference is that his is a '03 model or if you've got the wrong wires... Also be sure that you've got a proper ground wired to your relay.

either way, I would suggest using a voltmeter and testing the output of the ignition sense wire before and after turning the key in the ignition to the "On" position. That should tell you if its the right wire or not.

I'm actually trying to do the same thing as you. I'm still at the research phase, and haven't actually taken anything apart on my Z yet. Mine is a 2006, and I assume it will be similar to yours (in terms of wire colors). The service manual is pretty bunk when it comes to describing any of the wires and where they run through. And doing anything with the IPDM simply scares me a little. Your solution is probably the easiest to implement.

If you figure it out, be sure to post back if you can, I'd really like to try doing this myself and avoid paying the dealership $450 to wire a simple relay.

I couldn't find any wires with those color's anywhere, i'm quite sure it will be different since the '06 and '07 have different headlights it will be an entirely different harness. I still haven't figured out this whole situation i don't know why it didnt work for me with the white/blue and green/white wires..

Default DRL's

Why don't you go to Canadian Tire and have them install their 30.00 DRL upgrade kit. Simple, cheap and it works.

because its 100$ shop rate probably, and i dont really want canadian tire near my car if i can help it. They also told me they don't sell the DRL module anymore so I would have to go to a dealership to get it done anyway. If i can get this to work its 10$ instead of $400.

350BlueZ, have you made any further progress with your install? I had another look at the service manual and found some info on the combination switch. It is actually more complicated than I had originally thought it was, having 5 inputs and 5 outputs to/from the BCM. I don't think it is as simple as just "wiring 12V to the 1st position" on the switch. It seems to have some sort of a feedback loop to the IPDM, which is why it has both inputs and outputs.

Have you pulled apart the drivers side kick panel? The previous reference I made to the person wiring the Red wire with Blue stripes (as parking light) was in the drivers kick panel, not the steering column.

Heres a link to a thread explaining it:
http://forums.nicoclub.com/zerothread/242123

Looking further at the service manual, I also found that the 8-pin connecter at each lamp housing has a parking light input (pin6), which is also Red with blue stripe (coincidence?), and GND (pin8) which is black. A relay could be easily wired to each side. To access this connector though, you need to pull off the front inner fender from each side. The only other thing needed to wire the DRL this way is to find an Ignition type sense somewhere in the engine bay... I'm pretty sure this is how the dealership is going to wire it if I take the car there.
