I think most front bumpers look out of place if you don't at least have the side skirt

HUGE +1 to this. One of the things I really loved about my Z was the BALANCE that the front bumper and the wing created, and the transitional smoothness that the skirts gave (including the rear-skirt).

These body kits are designed as a package on the car. One of the comments I got consistently about my car was that with the whole kit on it and a simple color scheme, it looked like a car that a manufacturer might provide (i.e. it didn't look pieced together). It's very hard to achieve that look when you start mixing and matching aftermarket body parts....Just my 2.

That's why I'm all about continuity and theme. Think of a theme for your car and go with it. Also consider what your goals for the car are.
