so best buy corporate is going to take care of all the costs of the repair. about $3K. i called the retail location and asked what they were going to do to compensate me for all the trouble. at first, the "best she could do" was a $100 gift card. i laughed at her and told her to call me back with something less ridiculous.
she called back and said she talked to her GM and the best she could do was a $200 gift card. i told her that was unacceptable in comparison to the huge mistake that was made.
QUESTION: i simply don't want a gift card because that means best buy still gets money back on me. the only thing i would consider from them aside from cash is to give me a AVIC D3 and call it even.
what do you guys think is a reasonable request on my part?

How much work did they do to put the sub in your car? Did you spend $500 with them or $5000? I wouldn't expect much from them beyond their paying for the repair on the car, and any associated costs (rental car, etc.). A $200 gift card isn't really putting money in their pocket. Sure, it makes you have to spend in in their store, but they're still essentially giving you $200 worth of product. Just don't use it on car install.
that really sucks that happened... but I say be thankful with the repairs...not to mention the compensation..... and next time find a reputable installer instead of letting some punk idiot kid at best buy molest your brand new car.....

they installed the sub in the cubby behind the driver's seat. it was a $150 install. i know. ripoff.
i'm going to try to see what the real cutoff in terms of "what they can do" really is.
all else fails, i'm going to make them refund that install cost, and hand over the $200 giftcard.
