Anybody know how much it is from start to finish and how long it would take. I'm assuming with the prep to mask and cut then repaint maybe around $400.00? Wouldn't that be less than getting the FRP for $600.00+ and then having to repaint it from there?

The shop I took my car to quoted at least $950 to cut, reinforce, repaint, and mesh.

It would be a real finished piece, but still there are better options than that.

?? I am pretty sure that when Brian got his hood done, they didn't cut through and of the support runners.

Holy S*** are you serious? Doesn't that seem a bit steep considering what's done?

I am assuming they were going to repaint the entire hood, and mesh is optional. But I agree, it does seem very steep.

well, for what they were going to do, I.E. make it look factory, no it doesn't seem steep, but for what else I could buy for $950, yeah its a little steep haha.

I'm not having them do it, waiting for other options.

I guess if Jim or someone else actually comes out with an FRP or CF version of this there would be a lot of people interested. If I had the funds I would invest in it. Dayum I'm still shocked how much it is..

Well you could do it yourself, and it probably wouldn't look as good, unless you know exactly what you are doing. But, I'd want it with a finished look.

Yeah, I'd be interested if Jim did it, but don't know, will depend on the timing, seeing as I have other things ahead of that that need to be taken care of first.

... well at least with just one sack you won't have to worry much about the "pull and pray" method.

I want to do this as well but I'm worried that the hood will look rough or be sharp as hell on those cut edges. Do you think a rolled edge is required? You could cut the vents a little small and notch the metal on the edges, fold it down, then re-weld. I have a Varis duct and the 1st thing people do is stick their friggin' fingers in it. I'm not trying to walk out from dinner to retrieve a finger and have a bloody mess on my car.

Also, is the hood just 1 layer of aluminum? You wouldn't see the space between 2 layers by cutting this? I am just assuming that welding is a must for this after cutting.
