Default ATC (automatic temp control)

M 2007 350Z (which I love) is the first car I have owned with ATC. I have a few questions on it for the Z...

1. Does the ATC work only if both the air flow dial and fan speed dial are set to "auto" (keeping in mind ATC needs time to get the temp to a degree and maintain it there).

2. Does the AC compressor always have to be on for ATC to work? I understand if I have the temp set to 60 the compressor will be needed, but if I have it set to 75, will ATC work without the compressor on?

Thanks so much for the help.

it will work without the area part on auto like you can put it to floor or vents with it still on. About the compresser im not sure. I just wish it wouldnt come on automatically i hate that. If its 25 degrees outside and i turn on the heater i dont need the AC lol.

It works without the compressor being on, but in the summer, obviously it would work better with it on, winter, you dont need it unless you want to dehumidify the cabin.

Anytime I have it on auto, it melts my shoes. I don't know what it is, but it seems to always want to warm my feet the most.

Mine goes wild. Its currently about 30 degrees in MA and even when I put the thing on 65 it recognizes that the outside temp is 30 and blasts heat, and doesnt stop. I end up having to switch between the vent and 65, or keep the fan speed on 1, even then it starts to get redicuously hot. I guess it was ment to be a car to be driven in the warm weather anyways though
