Default 350z Sound Proofing?

tried searching, couldnt find anything. 350z's seem to be pretty noisy inside compared to other cars. i was wondering if anyone has suggestions on how to quiet down the interior a little bit. the noise is alright when your trying to go fast, but when im just driving around town it gets kinda annoying.

any help would be appreciated and sorry in advance if theres a sticky or something already about this...

About 30% audible decrease when sitting inside...noise from APS pipes...can faintly hear music outside the car when windows are up and music is blasting...which is good.

about 40-50 bucks for a gallon of the acoustic paint and the dynamat is pretty much the same everywhere.

Yea, I used Dynamat and I noticed a difference. I have a ZR though, so the only area that I did so far is where the top goes into. The road noise did go down. I will soon do underneath the cabin carpet, the door panels and the cubby holes behind the seats..so if there is a diy guide on how to take out the cubby holes behind the seats in the ZR...please post =)

STOP.......

Get dynamat or cheaper and better stuff like Elemental Designs products.

I "dynamated" with VSe1 or something like that from Elemental Designs my Z with about 75 percent covereage and obtained a 2 dB drop in interior noise.

BUT...................................

when I installed V4 Teklite my car was night and day difference...it is now as quiet as my GF's 2007 335i and my Moms Lexus 470 something

its quiet....totalling around a 5.9 dB drop overall and being Cadillac comfortable

I think most of the noise is tire/road noise from the rears. Since there is no separate trunk compartment, with a wall to deaden the noise, it is pretty loud. Running noisy tires is more bothersome in a Z than most cars.

Insulating that compartment in the ZR was a good idea.

Quick search, but I bet if you look around you can get it for even cheaper.

Just to mention it, the '06+ have less engine drone than earlier years.

I wouldn't bother with sound-proofing with dynamat or whatever else unless you have audio system.

Coming from other cars, it might be a bit annoying, but you'll get use to it.

This stuff is the real deal and a hell of a lot cheaper than DynaMat. I have used it on both our Z's (and the second one has a custom exhaust and a Vortech supercharger).

when I first installed my injen exhaust with aps 2.5 test pipes. the drone inside the car was unbelievably ear shatteringly horrible. I'm talking when I would get done driving the car after an hour long trip, my ears would ring and litterally hurt. you could feel the vibrations through out the entire car and you couldn't hear the radio hardly at all. trying to talk while driving was nearly impossible also because your voice would reverberate throughout the whole car. I literally had to wear ear plugs to drive more than an hour. this lasted about a couple days before I couldn't stand it anymore.

I ended up covering the whole rear end under the carpeting and spare tire well in damplifyer pro. this made the car mostly pretty tolerable but it was still ultimately too loud for my taste so I ended up putting down another layer of dynamat dynapad.

at this point it's still loud and it still drones a bit, but it's really actually very tolerable inside the car. it's kinda the best of both worlds. the car is pretty decent inside but still loud, aggressive, and mean on the outside.
