I live in CA and I recently got a fix-it ticket for not having the front license plate installed on my front bumper. I'm not worried about the license plate itself, as I do have one, but just never bothered to put it on because I didn't want to drill a hole in my front bumper. I was just putting it off until the cops force me to do it. Now that I have to go to a referee station to show that I have the front plate on, what should I do about my other mods, such as my tinted windows and test pipes and exhaust? Will the referee station just sign me off for whatever the violation that got me there in the first place, or will they inspect for anything else that I could be violating also?
My front windows are pretty obvious that they're tinted.
The test pipes are under the car, so I'm not worried about that.
The exhaust that I have is the Nismo catback is it's not THAT obvious that I have an aftermarket exhaust system.
Should I be worried about those other mods that I didn't get cited for?

you sure you have to go to a ref station for a license plate ticket? fix it tickets like that, you usually just have to get it signed off at a sheriffs station or something. Ref tickets are usually for illegal modifications.

If you just got a fix-it ticket for your front plate, all you have to do is find a CHP on the side of the streets, and have them look at your plate and sign it off...
stillen makes a front plate mount that bolts to the tow hook standoff in the front, no need to drill holes.
when you go to get the fixit ticket signed off at the CHP, just leave your windows rolled down! duh! they just want to see that you have a solid mounted plate, but don't give them a reason to write you a ticket for something else while you are there. i've been written up for both dark windows and front plate, the plate is a cake fix, the windows....get the razor blade out!

I don't think you need to go to a ref station just for the front license plate. There's police stations that will do this for you for only a few bucks. Maybe you were referred to a ref station since some don't charge you. Police and CHP stations will take care of this. As one person stated ref stations are for illegal mods. Just make sure it's a hot day and leave your windows down. There's no need for them to look at the windows if your original ticket was for no front license plate. Don't worry about it. You'll be fine.

thanks for the inputs guys. So I just find any sheriff or CHP and they can just sign it off? Maybe I should just hang out at my local donut shop and wait for them to show up.
