my 03 base steering wheel has an unacceptable amount of wear on it. The silver pieces are scratched all to hell, the leather is flaking where the sun has hit it, and there are places where it looks like a coat zipper or something has caught the wheel causing small snags in the leather. I'd like to stay with the look and feel of the stock wheel, but what's the best option?

replace the steering wheel entirely? would this be cost prohibitive because of the undeployed airbag?

getting the wheel's leather professionally rewrapped? having the silver pieces painted or replaced?

Any insight or opinions are appreciated, but i'm not looking to replace it with an aftermarket steering wheel...i'd rather live with the damage
