Default Underbody damage, Need advice/input

Im posting this for a fellow student at west ga. I met him a few days ago and it seemed like he had a problem and needed some insight but I couldnt help him so here I am Anyways back to the problem.

He bought the car used and it looked like the car was jacked up by the wrong jack points. The 3rd picture shows where the car was jack up by (highlighted in teal). The 1st picture shows what the underbody looks like now. The 2nd picture highlights where the floor board is now higher due to them jacking it up in the wrong area. Should he take it to a bodyshop to get the metal bent back into place? Will this have a negative long term affect?

Wow, just wow. Since it is only sheet metal, not a frame rail, the negative impact, if any should be minimal. I would take it somewhere and have them knock it out if a rubber mallet doesn't do the trick.

well if it hasn't bothered him since 4/11/2006 then it's probably okay...


can you feel the bump under foot?

as noted above, is just sheet metal so can pound it back down if noticably.

i use one of those squishy rubber blocks under the normal jacking points - those places seem to have a bit of give to them too


nice clean under body pic - not all the burnt racoon fur thats stuck to every crevice under mine (better since a pressure wash but CSI would still have a field day)
[preventing calls to PETA - it was a bloated dead racoon when i hit it]

Like others have said, it doesn't look like it caused any real structural problems. As long as the metal didn't penetrate and there is no water/condensation leaking into the vehicle, I'd do like others said. Take a weighted mallet to it and bang it out. Don't go with a soft rubber mallet. Get the rubber mallet that has sand inside. It's the mallet that transfers the weight to the point of impact...
