this is the soon to be released lit side Z emblem. Im aware you cant see much(thats somewhat on purpose )

basicly just to show you I am working on somethin. what you cant tell is that the emblem is a full replacment, as such, there will be all sorts of fun posibilities for it, personally I think Im gonna have a bronze Z with gunmetal background lit with amber leds.

this particular model is far from finished, it was a test of alot of different things. one of which was the LED layout, of which Im not 100% satisfied, but as you can see, theres no shortage of brightness from 7(yes 7!) 4000MCD amber LEDs.

the color is visible from all angles including straight on, as the normally silver ring around it is also clear and glowing.

hope to have better pics for you guys within a week or 2(and maybe something to sell as well).

on with the good, yes Im aware I suck at photos, but its dark out, and the engine bay was a bit hot.

good to hear, I have wanted to have this done for weeks now, but I have 2 horrible things going for me, Im a perfectionist, and I have 0 patience. I get thing after thing that some might think is great, but I find something wrong, and its back to the drawing board.

 

i wish that some companies would take that approach!

 

Ares: Is the "Z" going to light up too or just the outer edge of the emblem?

 

that is the question isnt it?

since it is a full peice, the plan goes that the Z could be lit as well. but there are problems with that. for one, LED layout, the leads have to go through the very narrow area between the Z and the rim, and do so perfectly or theyd show. but given enough time thats doable.

for this particular case this was more a test of the tint used, I dont want to use any paint(this is where the perfectionist thing comes in) so the plastic is dyed black. wanted to be sure that works good, and it did.

and I needed to see that the clear would bond properly to the black, and that the clear would be 100% bubble free with the use of pressurized casting, and it was.

I didnt however feel like going through all the trouble of getting the Z to glow as well for this one, but down the road, it is certainly a possibility. time will tell.

 

can someone plz save the pics and host them on another site? i cant see any images hosted on my350.com for some reason. ive turned all security off and accepted all cookies before but it still wouldnt work...

 

you might want to increase your cache size (temporary Internet files) on ur browser. Delete it to free it up.

in IE. Tools>Internet Options>Delete Files.

 

i cleared it... set the size to 1 gig... and they still wont show. any other suggestions?

 

did you check in the advanced tab and make sure that the show picture option is checked.

 

yeah... that has always been checked... this is the only site that i cant see the hosted images from...
