How is this air duct installed? I'm about to buy one, but I have no idea how it assembles onto the bumper. My bumper has a mesh grille, will it still work?

Pretty much just line it up with the air-intake duct. I used some metal screws to bolt it into the bumper support. You will have to cut some of the foam to make it fit.

Drill out the two premarked holes. Set it on the right side of the bumper support. Mark holes with a sharpie. Drill bumper. Apply plastic lock-in clips.

If I had a remote temp sensor, I would have tested it. I may test this this coming spring.

I don't think it makes a HUGE difference, but any amount of cooler air getting directed into the engine bay and air filter is a plus to me. Hell, simply by blowing in the opening and having your hand on the air filter side, you can feel a good amount of air... one can imagine the flow at 30mph+.

I imagine that with this duct and a vented hood, the engine bay temps will drop a good amount. I'll test this out this spring as well when I cut my hood with the RS concept template.

Lol, I was wondering the same thing a while back. I still want to try, though.

^ Nice. I was hoping it wouldn't be one of those IR temp readers -- interested in the results.

You can get a cheap (like $15) accessory inside/outside temp sensor at a Walmart in the auto department. Comes with a remote probe with a wire maybe 12 feet long, so you can place the little sensor wherever you like. The LCD display goes inside the car and takes a pair of AAA batteries. I used one to show a friend that the oem airbox on my '74 Alfa Spider was better than the aftermarket cone-style filter he bought for his. I put the sensor near one of the throttle butterflies, and the oem setup was 60 degrees F cooler on a 90 degree summer day.

Amazon sells one similar to the one I found at Walmart:
