Lights advice needed
I've searched around, but can't be sure about this
If my 2005 annivarsary (wtih HIDs I suppose) has poor lights, what can I do to improve it, other than upgrade to 06+ or buy a new HID kit?
I'm going to check the alignment in the next couple of days, but I don't think that's the problem. My lights just don't make enough light, first car I've had this problem with.
Can I just upgrade to 55w bulbs, or I need a new ballast. And if I do need new ballast, how much would this cost me in total for ballast and bulbs and everything?
I've seen different kinds of bulbs, D2R, D2S... Not sure what they mean, what's the deal?
Can I upgrade to a higher kelvin rating, say 5 or 6k for a whiter lighting?
Many thanks

The color of the light is optimized for best performance. Those who change to a bluer light are doing it to look better - not see better. Check the aiming of your lights as the projector beams have a very sharp cut-off that if set too low is going to rob you of vision.
If you do have hid lights then the bulbs you want are d2s or d2c ( same thing ). you wont need to upgrade the ballast but if you want the greatest light output go with bulbs around 4500k for color temp. Light output in lumens increases up to around 4500k and then starts to drop off. 4500k is about the equivalent of noon sunlight and the further you go up from there the more of the visible light spectrum drops out. check with your dealership if you have the hid equipped headlight housing before you buy new bulbs as they are kinda expensive. I put a set of maruta technology 4700k d2c bulbs in my 06 and they are nasty bright; cost was around 140 for 2 bulbs. Hope this helps
You say my car has d2s or d2c, but in this thread the OP says 06+ uses D2S here
The 2005 anniversary models like mines have the old headlight face, with the orange stripe on the side. So unless all MY's use the same type of bulbs, I shouldn't be using D2S according to the link above...
Any ideas?

D2S and D2R will not fit a housing made for the other type. I haven't looked at the ballasts in a long time, so I'm unsure about whether they'll be compatible plug-wise... sorry for that.
Both bulbs are made for the different housings. A D2R may not distribute light correctly in a headlight designed for a D2S bulb.

Here's info on the differences between the D2R and D2S and HID bulbs in general.

It turns out 03-05 uses D2R, as per the service manual.
Funny thing is Nissan wouldn't reveal that to me, lol.
