yea .. you'll need a gallon (if not more) do do a whole car including jams and stuff
depending on which brand paint you buy is how much you'll need ..
most of ppg's paint is a 1:1 ratio ..
(so a gallon of base mixes with a gallon of reducer = 2 gallons sprayable)
sherwin williams is a 2:1 on the lower end products and 1:1 on their ultra 7000 line of paint ( NOT WORTH THE MONEY)
not sure about dupont .. never sprayed it (yet)
I have used sherwin williams low and high end products .. their ultra 7000 line is for production (not show or quality) and its not as good as ppg's bottom end paint (thats some good stuff for the $$$ )
I'm a painter at a Dodge Dealership .. if I were you I'd go to your local ppg paint store and get any of there paint .. its worth every penny . I spray Sherwin Williams Ultra 7000 all day long at work .. its way overpriced for what it is
as for a couple hundred dollars .. think more in the range of close to a grand (if not more) on primer, base, reducer, clear, hardener, mixing cups, strainers, sandpaper, tape, paper, tack rags, wax / grease remover and the list goes on ..
not including labor ..
then you got your sikkens and other REALLY high end paints .. but I'd stick some ppg paint on there, wetsand and buff it if you want it really nice and call it a day
anyways .. got any paint questions just shoot me a pm
EDIT : as for the color code .. take the make / model / year to a auto paint store and they'll tell you
