Need pointers on removing '06 center trans hump console
There wasn't a DIY in the DIY section.
I could use some help/pointers on how to remove the part of the center console pointed out in the pic.
All I really need is to lift the back of it up high enough to pull some wires through/under it. I installed my pod gauges a long time ago and I'm currentlly running the wires behind the seats and over the top of the back section of the center console, where the cubby lid hinges at. It's not really very noticable since the wires are in black wire loom but I would like to loose the loom and run the wires under the console, instead of the ghetto way I have it now.
Or is there a easier way to run the wires under the front of the console by the shifter area/AC/heater vent ***** area? I tried but couldn't see anyway to run wires through that area at all.
Oh wait after looking at the picture, looks like at least on the passenger side anyway, if I remove the trim piece crap I removed when I installed the ****, I might be able to push a coat hanger through that and in front or behind the shift area.

There is a bolt on each side towards the rear bottom of the console. If you move the seats you will see them. Unscrew them and the center console will pull up without a problem.
I agree. I did the same when I was running wires from the front to back for my audio system. The weird thing is that while I got the center console completely loose, I still couldn't lift it up and out of there because it gets caught on the e-brake handle. Anyone know a way around that?
there are two screws and "L" brackets that secure the front of the center console to the vertical part. You have to take those off.
Remove the lower finisher that surrounds the shift boot. That will give you access to those screws.
Do that by grasping the rear of the trim ring and pull backwards. Once loose, you can pull it up aand turn it clockwise to get it out of the way.
you can disconnect the AC controls ribbon cable and remove the shift **** if you want to have better access.
Removing the shift **** is kinda tricky, need to hold the shift lever steady with an opposing vise grips or channel lock while loosening the shift ****.
