I have some hand rash on the clearcoat of the brushed aluminum LH steering wheel spoke plate. I removed the small screw on the other side of the plate but couldn't get it off. I did not want to force it as the airbag is close. I just wanted to refinish or replace it. The clear coat is rubbed off in a few spots.

 

My x gf scratched the hell out of mine with her nail once. Someone should write a how-to!

 

It should just pop off, their held in with clips.

 

You can't just pop it off. If you do it will break. There is another screw, on the inside, that you can only get to by removing the steering wheel.
