Thumbs up Easy way to make interior feel more expensive

Ok, well I was detailing the interior of the Z yesterday, and finally addressed something that has bothered me. The center vents have plastic casting marks running down the center of the air "directors" an the little lever at the bottom-middle of the rectangular vents. The casting lines (where the two peices of plastic were put together) were quite cheap looking on all the horizontal bars in the vents, and you could actually feel them on the lever (which your passenger will end up touching alot). So I whipped out some 600 grit sand paper, ripped off small peices, and went to town. Bassically, after five minutes of sanding (making sure not to sand anything other than what I was working on), the makrs were visually almost completely gone, and the surface was now smooth to the touch. Sanding did lighten the color slightly, but I threw some 303 Aerospace Protectant on there and they looked perfect. Ill wait until the 303 wears off in a month or so and see how they look....but the difference was so little, that I think it will be fine with regular dressing with a protectant like 303. One could finish off with some 2000 grit finishing paper, but I didnt have any handy.

I also sanded the edges of the pockets attached to the sides of the seats just for kicks since that also had a cheap-feeling, sharp edge.

No pics...pics wouldnt really show much difference. But I recomend that anybody do this as its so easy and makes one small detail that sticks out and screams "cheap" lessened.

no way -- i think its details like this that make cars unique and custom.
