Default Window Tint removal question...

My GFs car has the god awful purple tint from the previous owner. She's gonna get it re-tinted with good stuff, but they want $50 extra to remove the old stuff! And the only window tinted is the rear window!! Any sure fire suggestions on how we can get this off without damaging the glass or rear defoster?

Just have the shop do it... trust me. This way, if they damage something, they're at fault and you're not stuck with a worthless defroster.

Removing tint is a complicated process and you can seriously damage your windows/defroster if you do it wrong. It also takes a great deal of time and heat to loosen the glue.

$50 is more than reasonable. Let them do it.

It depends on how the film was glue on. If you google it, you'll find many answers. When I removed the film from the front windows of the previous car, I basically used razor blades and cut the film and pulled it out without leaving any adhesive residues.
