Default rear boot brace

Hi

Just bought a 350z 2004 model and i came across with a small problem.
The boot space is too small (i already new that but on top there is a big brace that splits the boot into 2 smaller ones. I thing it’s a kind of stability equipment and by removing it is messing with the stability of the car. Is there any other part that does the same job but has a different shape to maximize the boot space? What happens if the brace is removed? Thanks !

It's basically a giant rear strut brace. I personally wouldn't remove it, as it aids in handling and removing it without adding a cage or a suitable replace bar, possibly welded in or something, would throw off the balance. I'd recommend keeping it, but it's not like your car is going to blow up without it. The majority of cars on the road today do not have a front or rear upper strut brace. The Z comes factory with both.

I'll let all the forum-engineers tell you the specifics of why you should not remove it.

Thanks Done Deal DR

Do you know any replacement part that will do the same job without taking so much space fo the boot? If you think about it its the angle of the brace that creates the problem.

Take the plastic off, and look at the function of the brace. Then decide for yourself.

I've seen smaller, solid rear strut braces for our cars on race cars, but not sure if there's a mass-produced version available.
