How to remove GPS blank-off insert plate.
My wife's 2003 350 Z did not come with a factory GPS system. Originally I thought about looking for one from a junkyard or Ebay but we have decided to just buy an aftermarket unit like a Garmin or something and mount it where the factory GPS would have went.
I'd like to pop the insert out so I can drill and hole through it and gain access to either the factory GPS wiring harness or just tap into a hot wire for power rather than having to plug a cigarrette lighter adapter into the power port.
Can someone explain how to remove this insert so I don't break the dashboard? Photos would be nice. Much appreciated. Thanks.

Mount Carmel to be exact. I work at Eastman too, Primester division.
I found some in-depth instructions on how to remove the panel surrounding the GPS cavity.
The first one is blocked because it's on another forum.

Instead of just plugging the GPS power adapter into the socket in the dash, I think I'm going to go the extra mile and connect one of those to the factory harness behind the dashboard, then plug the unit into that. That way the unit shuts off with the ignition key and frees up the power point socket in the dash.
Providing there is enough room behind the dash.
