Default v2 from m1Auto...review

So i got my v2 replica from m1Autosport (prepainted) in the mail yesterday and went ahead and threw it on.

As for the initial look...it looked like a very well-prepped paintjob, and no runs, orange peel, etc. It came very well wrapped up in bubble wrap as well.

No cracks, chips, and the plastic mesh grille was very well put on with all clips holding it in place. The paint lines between the black grille and the cs bumper were very cleanly done...no overspray or bad tape lines.

Also, they did a PERFECT job of shaving the emblem and smoothing it over.

Initial fittment was really good, it was VERY tight under the bottom of the headlights and all 6 clip holes on the top of the bumper lined up ALMOST perfectly, and both edges of the bumper fit snug into the fenders.

Once the 2 main brackets were off the original bumper and pre-lined up to the v2, i could see where the work was going to have to be done. The 2 holes on each bracket where the little black push clips hold the bracket to the bumper lined up almost perfectly, so i opted to go ahead and attach the brackets with the clips and go from there.

Once brackets were on, i lined up the bumper on the car again and noticed i needed to make the 2 screw holes (bumper to fender holes) on each side of the bumper larger so they fit around the white plastic nuts connected to the fender and drilled out the remaining holes on the bumper (made holes bigger) until the holes in the bracket matched the holes on the bumper and both matched the protruding white plastic nuts on the fenders.

Anyway, after some drilling, i got it lined up a close as i could possibly get it, and then bolted in on both fender sides, then clips on top (1 hole now didnt match) then bolts on bottom plastic shield (all holes lined up on bottom but it took some tugging on the plastic shield to get some of the holes lined up.

All in all, for a VERY little bit of extra work (as compaired to that required by many replica kits) it was an easy install with very few problems.

The paint color is ALITTLE off, but barely noticable. Hood to bumper fit is also very tight.

Only complaints: Fenders dont line up PERFECTLY (but close) and in one of my pics (its hard to see) in the space between where the emblem goes and the driver side headlight the FRP is VERY thin and there is what looks to be a small indentation where its not smooth (like when they heat treat a bumper to get a ding out)

Overall, im pleased with the bumper and the job M1 did.

Anyway, sorry for the length but hope this helps future M1 purchasers.

EDIT: Ya, they \/ are chitty iphone pics...

Yeah u guys did a great job with the paintwork. And i was def impressed of how close to perfect the fittment was and how little work it took to get on.

Pics dont do it justice, it looks great in person.

If it makes you feel any better about the fender lineup, my stock is worse than that after removing a few times. It can be tweaked pretty easily. Not quickly, but easily.

Yeah, my perfectionist side is my downfall. It really does fit great, though.

Like i said, i was impressed how well it fit before and after tweaking. And ive done no body work whatsoever in the past...in fact, this is the first time ive ever taken any body parts off and on besides some sideskirts on my old Acura Integra type R back in highschool.

Oh ok.

That looks like an excellent fitment. It's pretty much as good as you're going to get from a replica. Congrats.

You were definitely on your own this time. With the Integra at least you had Obi Wan Ke-Vtec helping you.

Yeah. I've always been a fan of high-revving 4 poppers. I had an '00 Celica GTS that was a ball to drive. Plus it got mondo mileage. That was until...along came that sinister 350.

Agree.

<-- waiting for them to release a new Supra. When that happens im selling whatever i got to buy one, even my house if i have to.

Acura fell of too with the discontinuation of the RSX and now they halted all work on their new NSX.... fail.

In the past there have been a few negative comments about M1's V2. But mostly positive. I think what it takes is patience with installation and tweak as needed (Just like any other replica). I am still saving to buy one one CF lip.
