Default Rattling from trunk

I've had my '08 UK spec 350Z for 3 weeks. We're bonding, me and the car... it's fab.

One thing that is annoying the hell out of me are rattles from the trunk area. There are two black plastic plunger things at each side of the lifting part. I had to pack one of these with a silicon affixed piece of rubber to shut the rattles, but it's breaking through again ;-( I bought the proper 350Z trunk carpet (dropped the noise on the freeway by 10db), and I bought and fitted the "tonneau" cover that plugs the hole in the suspension brace to make the car have a real trunk. But still it finds ways to rattle.

Anyone else have issues like this ? What were they and how did you fix?

Thanks from the UK

Paul

Note I have altered the language used above for our US readers...
In UK Trunk is Boot, and Freeway is Motorway ;-)

Mine rattles as well, but havent addressed that issue as of yet.

Rattles are one of the few things we will have a hard time helping you with. Only you can hear where and at what times the noise is coming from. There are a plethora of panels back there, including your spare and tools....

...it could be many things.

There is a whole thread about fixing the rattles in the trunk area. look in Interior/ Exterior DIY. My hatch rattles come from the metal clips that hold the big plastic piece to the hatch itself. Make sure all clips are clipped in properly.

I get my rattles/squeaks from the dashboard; I know the culprit of the rattles, which is the triple set of gauges on the center of the dash. The sqeak...it's a mystery. I'm kinda getting used to it. Otherwise, I bought me a v-e-r-y reliable car (engine, cooling system, electrical system, body integrity, NO feathering, NO oil-consumption issue, NO starting problem, NO OTHER PROBLEMO!)

Also make sure the spare and all associated pieces of equipment are seated and secured properly. The noises can be misleading sometimes.

Yip, excellent point. I've been in two 350's different years, and in both the spare wasn't bolted fully down, moving and rattling. Easy fix. Also make sure you wheel jack is fully locked into it's cubby hole.
