Talking kick plate lighting!!

hey i made this last night....3 blue l.e.d.s in the "Z" in the door kick plate. they match my blue underdash lighting. used l.e.d.s and rubber grommets. i am going to wire it to my dome light so it comes on when the doors are opened, just like my underdash lights. tell me what you think. more pics to follow.

smaller LEDs are your friend.

what size are thos bad boys? like 10mm? or maybe its just the scale of it that makes em look so big, but I definitly would have used something smaller.

take some pics when its lit, its gotta be like stunningly bright.

they are pretty small leds, the grommet probably makes them look bigger. but, they come with the proper resistor already in line. got it at autozone

Hey Ares: Have you made anything like that yet? You seem to be the LED master here. I have the metal (optional) kick plates but I would be interested in seeing if it could be done with those.

I think the LED place on the side 3 squares would look nicer. Seems like 3 LED on the Z emblem is too close together. I would put 3 one one side and 3 on the other side.

I didnt make it, I dont have pics.

personally if I was going to do it, not sure Id use LEDs. they are good light sources, but they project light, and in this case you dont really want to light anything up, but rather make itself light up.

but what if the 3 squares on each side were cut out and this
was placed behind it...

I think that would give it an awesome glow.

i finished the lights....it looks great! the leds arent even that bright unless you look directly down at them. when i open the door, i have blue underdash with matching blue leds on the Z. it looks nice.

that looks nice, compliments the footwell nicely.

is the footwell your own custom work, or the nismo lighting kit or whatever.

i agree with JDMZ33, personally, i think it would look better on the squares...maybe orange to match the rest of the lighting. that would be cool.

still, fresno350, those do look nice with the night shot.

yeah but i dont use the underdash lights when my orange dash lights are on. only when i open the doors they are rigged to the dome circuit. now the Z is also hooked to the same circuit. ares, the underdash lights were my own thing, i bought 2 10" blue neon tubes and rigged them. i am getting the metal floor mats and i think it will look even better. i thought about doing the squares myself...but you have VERY little clearance under that kick plate. i did the Z because you got some room inside that Z for the leds.
