removing the center stack
I have a 2006 Touring...I got some deep scratches on the cubby door so i decided to replace it. Little did I know that just replacing the door meant replacing that whole unit. I got the diagram on line of how to remove that section but it was not clear. I was able to pull the top away where the upper guages are but as i pulled it back it seemed to stick closer to the radio. I didn't want to force it. Does anyone knows if i should just pull harder? or are there screws somewhere? Is there a thread with pics of someone removing that section? The dealer wants to charge me $250 just for labor to install it. CRAZY! It looks simple if i can get the damn console off. any help would be greatly appreciated.
are they the screws that are hidden under the rubber flooring of the cubby? they are far back there like they could be easily be lost once unscrewed and they look like they hold the radio more than the console. any suggestions?
They hold the radio but the radio is attached to the cubby so both will come out. There are 2 screws on the top back part of the radio and 2 on the bottom. Also the bottom front where the cover clicks into has 2 screws in it. There is a thread somewhere on here that has everything that has to come off. Its got pics for you. I cant remember what it was for though. I think the thread for changing the color of the radio leds or something like that. Try searching for it. something should come up.
