Default Push-Type Retainer Clips

Anybody figured out any great way to replace these horrible pop rivets with something metal...or any other ideas?

This is especially the case with the engine BAY....something functional but aesthetically decent would be great

hahaha

I'm beginning to think the pop rivets are referring to the plastic pop clips.

1) Wrong forum

2) Those rivets are $2 a piece, I don't think it's worth the effort homes.

There is a wide assortment of suitable hardware. These, for example, are pretty.

Well all joking aside......they are ugly and ineffective..especially when considering the engine bay battery and brake panels.

They are effective, otherwise we would all have our engine bay parts falling off the car.

I don't know of another company who makes a replacement, so it may be a business opportunity for you.

The last time I asked for them at the dealer they just handed me a bunch...

They really aren't that expensive either: http://www.courtesyparts.com/66810e-...8-p-17332.html

Got a dozen for $13 at local stealership. Double check with Infiniti too. Safelite broke most of mine off when replacing my front. =(

they attach the aerocatch assembly to the surface of your hood.

u need to use a rivet attachment tool

so basically you drill holes through what you want to attach, push the thicker end of the pop-rivet through the hole, put the sharp nail looking thing into the rivet attachment tool, and then pull the lever.. you'll notice that the round end of the pop-rivet will suck up into the body and buldge out the cylinder.. you have to choke up with the tool on the nail looking part a couple of times until it pops off, then you have successfully attached the two pieces together with the rivet...

now in order to get rid of the rivet, you'll have to drill it out- so these are meant to be semi-permanent installations...

if your aerocatch pins are in place with bolts/nuts/screws. then that's fine...

Ahhh, ok, thanks Ches.

Actually, i would feel more comfortable with the integrity of my latches to hood with these in place as opposed to using the supplied hex screws/nylon locking nuts that i used. Looking at your explaination, however, it seems using such force on (when pulling rivets with tool) a carbon fiber hood may not yeild good results.

I take it these rivets may have been meant for a metal hood...
