new to the forum, please help with bcm question.
I have a 2003 350z that I bought new, which has begun to give me a problem starting over the last year. It cranks but won't turn over. The local mechanic, who is also a friend, said it is the body control module. If I fuss with the key fob, unlocking and locking the car several times it will magically let me start it. The only mods are a Jim Wolf clutch and flywheel. Please help.
I believe it is BCM related. There might not be anyting wrong with it, you may just have to have the dealer setup your keys and fob. I had to have my BCM replaced because of it getting wet in a flood. They have to program the BCM to recognize the keys as well as the fobs.
Just curious though, have you tried replacing the battery in your keyfob?

I did have the car battery replaced around the same time I noticed the starting problem. I have not replaced the key fob battery. Let me back track. I took it to a friend who is a mechanic and he said not to use the remote because the problem is related to the bcm. I order to start the car I lock and unlock the car manually. Then it seems to trick the car into enabling it to start. This does not happen all the time though.
Sounds like you need to reprogram the keyfob.
Here's the how-to.
