Default Cubby door broken again! Suggestions?

A while ago my 2003 dash cubby door broke. It was very floppy and felt very cheap, but after it popped out, I bought a new part from Nissan for several hundred, and it felt exactly like the original - floppy and weak. The cubby broke AGAIN this week! I saw a few other threads where people have carbon fiber, and I noticed that later years have a different and more solid mechanism, but they don't fit the 2003 model year?

Can anyone suggest how to fix it and get a quality outcome? I don't want to buy yet another 2003 cubby and have it break. This is ridiculous. I know why Clarkson on Top Gear was so critical of it now.. ideas?

Go to conceptZperformance they have all different model year cubbys. an 04 and 05 will fit, it's just a diferent color. You can just have the whole center dash painted to color match. Have a body shop do it. They come out real nice. Did mine in glossy black.
