Bride seats, tall guy, wants a drop.
So.. no one ever has what you want in stock just laying around..
and id truly hate to get rid of my new lovely suede and leather OEM seats..
BUT id also love to have an inch and half between my head and the roof again.
That being the case, i wear a 36 jeans, and pretty jacked up muscle wise but im not a chunky butt... and need a seat w low side seat bolsters so its easy get in and out of for myself and for my passengers who already complain about the car. So id like a wider seat, low sides, and a low seating height.
Im also looking for reclinable, and something w a fabric that is somewhat removeable like a few modesl of the Brides.. or the Veilside carbon fiber seats.
Im curious after reading this:
https://my350z.com/forum/search.php?...7&pp=30&page=2
, theres little aside from "WTB seat rails etc etc" in search for BRIDE SEATS..
anyone have a similar quest and can shed some light on a good seat to look at?
I drive the car daily, do not race and like a more OEM porsche RS seat look.. so maybe some Sparco Milano leathers... but again, no point if i cant get it to drop me a few inches.
Im also told theres no room w the existing OEM brackets to remove and reweld the tabs for any drop.
post up if your bored or if you have any info.. peace.

I am interested to find this out as well, being 6 foot 4 I have maybe an inch or so clearance for my head. I know my hair is getting too long when I start skimming my head in the car lol
I'm in the same boat as you man, don't race so I want a somewhat OEM seat that reclines and most importantly lowers a bit.

A good friend of mine is huge (lol just under 6'10"), and he barely fits in the roadster.
I think you should take a look at other sports cars/super cars oem seats. S2000 seats for example, are actually pretty affordable, light, and nice (idk about seat height compared to the z though). It shouldn't be to hard to get local guys to let you in their cars for a few minutes. A few awkward questions at a local meet and a tape measure and you could find a perfect solution. Although it's going to be hard to find a seat that sits low AND is also really easy to get in and out of (but that does kind of have to do with your definition of low and your definition of ease to get in and out).
EDIT:
I did just realize that not everyone is comfortable with custom rail work... so maybe that's not for you, but it's a thought.

I don't know if you noticed but the Veilside bottom bolsters are pretty high. I considered them once but only if I got a quick release steering wheel. I have the Sparco R100s which have pretty low bolsters and it's still hard not to rub them when getting in and out of my car.

try the bride brix II or ergo II, it sits lower and has a wider side bolster design plus it reclines. only prob is those ones are discontinued and hard to find new. the cuga and vorga models both recline but the vorga has no side bolsters which might suit you as well. i have the cugas, very comfortable, but they are literally for slim people only (i'm waist 28).

i still want something that has semi removeable fabric tho as well.. that way i can take it apart and have it redone in leather and suede. Im down for replica Brides as I wont be using any logos anyways, im not big on that stuff. Just wondering if they suck to sit in, and if they realy will drop my duff at all.. or else i keep the seats i just spent a grand redoing already.

+1 on the Sparco Chronos and the new Brides. I LOVE the look of the new Brides. Status Racing seats are awesome too, and you can actually custom configure your seat so you won't have to mess with getting anything reupholstered.

I have a set of status Ring seats, Carbon buckets, with cloth and a extra suede cover too. But status only makes a seat to fit 33/34 waist, and thats the Status ring GT seat. Brides are narrow as a virgin vaJJ. I hate bride seats and they suck to Daily drive in. My roomate runs brides that are for 32/33 waist and they are tight, I wear a 31/32. plus they sit high. Can only go .5 inch lower, I'm 5'9 and im about a fist from the roof. Seats are a bish. Have you tried sourcing some OEM seats from a STi or something. The s2k seat will be real nice choice but I'm not sure how high or low they'll sit. But remember too that our seats sit close to the door as is, My roommates brides hit the door panel.
I would definitely shop long and hard for seats.
But, if youre that big I'd opt for a STi recaro or a s2k seat.

F it.. looks like itd still be cheaper to have Intense pound down or cut out a section of the floor and sit this seat down a few than it is to buy a set of good new seats.
And i happen to really like the seats i have now btw...
OR i can just leave em as is and say F it.. ya know? grr.
the other option is looking at the mechanism that raises and lowers the seat. DUnno.. seems like a pretty dead end to me so far.
