Default Courtesy Parts Genuine 'Fairlday Z' emblem FADED!

I had purchased this two years ago ~8K miles. It has faded considerably! I would expect much better quality for a $30 genuine emblem. I have contacted courtesy and am waiting a reply.

Whats this emblem made of?
Was it originally "chromed" plastic?
Not metal? Some times polishes will do more harm than good
on these "plated" plastic pieces. That could could be the problem?
Hard to tell from the photo, can it be buffed out?
After 2 yrs,I'd think it would be hard to get a refund for
30 buck emblem.I'd just remove it&repaint.Reinstall with new 3m.

No matter what its gonna look like sh*t if youre just gonna throw em on there haphazardly. Get it done professionally or leave it off.

I vote the latter, unless youre RHD.

The emblem is plastic, It was not chromed, it is the same finish as the stock side Z emblems on the fenders. This should be the OEM emblem in Japan, I am just trying to see if anyone else has this problem. I do not expect any OEM emblem to fade or deteriorate this quickly. Perhaps Courtesy had a "bad" batch or they are selling copies. Either way I wanted to see if anyone else has experienced this in the community. I will keep you updated. Thanks again

I own an early Fairlady Z but took my emblem off about two years ago. It was in perfect condition when I removed it. I've no idea what would cause that...

No excuse for this shoddy product. A smart retailer would return your money and discontinue selling this item.

"Fine print" on their site for that item says

You may want to consider our replica Fairlady Z emblem, it is of identical appearance but at a fraction of the cost!

Maybe they sent you the replica by accident or if the geniune one was out of stock they thought they could pass it off on you.
They dont carry the replica one anymore from what I can tell.
How was the packaging on the one you got? If you can remember.

It's not like putting a M3 badge on a 318..... it is actually a fairlady Z in LHD. Same engine, same transmission, same frame, same layout....Sooo i really dont see the big deal.
