Please help! seats problem
I have a 2004 roadster
i traded my two seats (cause i wanted them orange)
with a hardtop model.....
driver seat is ok!!
guess what?
passenger...wrong!!
mine was full electric and not this one....only back and forward...didnt mine
but then...
roof wont move anymore!!!!! grrr
i know my seat was moving by itself when i was activating the roof to fold down or up....probably a computer sequence!
now since i dont have that seat and the connector wont fit either....
is there a way to buypass that sequence so that vmy roof can open and close??????
dont tell me anyone never changed their seats for other models in a roadster..
please help
thanks!

You didn't happen to trade with Magnat Man... did you?

You guys may want to trade back. Especially on your end. It sounds like the wiring could get complicated real quick.

From your regional post about this problem:
I also agree you would be better off to just swap back out with him.
I'm very much a DIY guy, and I never found an answer for this when I had my roadster. I found out how to disable the airbag warning, but never could figure out a way to trick the computer that opens the top since it is expecting a serious of events to occur during opening and closing of the top. Even though I no longer have a vert, I'm subscribing because I'd love to be here if/when you get your solution.

Well, I'll tell you what I had tried but wasn't successful.
My hopes were that I would be able to find the signal from the auto on/off switch on the back, turn it off - and then hope that it either dropped ground or power on one of those pins to the connector when it was in one position and didn't when in the other position. I tried a volt meter and tested each pin, and wasn't that lucky. So that led me to believe that the "smarts" of that switch were inside the seat and that it wouldn't be as simple as hard wiring 12v or ground to one of the connector leads to fool it.
My next idea was to take the guts of the wiring out of the seat and leave it in the car bundled up behind the racing seats until I could figure out the magic behind that button. However, the vert was totaled before I figured out its secrets.
So that's why I'm suggesting the swap out. It may be more trouble than you're willing to go through, and you really need a working set of roadster seats to reverse engineer it anyways.
