Default Paint Ideas?

Hey guys, been a while since I was last on the forums.

But I have a few dents and scratches on my car and I have been wanting to fix them for so long and now that my friend will get his own paint booth, I thought I might as well repaint my whole car.

I really want an original paint job, nothing like candy or something like chameleon, but still kind of exotic if you know what I mean?

Any ideas?

I was leaning towards orange or blue. I would rather do blue just because its a bit more pleasant on the eyes if you catch my drift... maybe like this?

I would lean toward a grey color.

First, doing a complete color change is pretty complex. At least, to
do it right. So your friend has a spray booth, what does that mean?
Is he a pro at doing at this type of job?
Getting to your choice of color, what color is your interior(seats)?
Thats a factor unless you are planning on a redo on that too.
If its a neutral black,no problem.
You have to have some likes&dislikes when it comes to color. Most
people are "blue" people,"white" people etc. From your comments,
(orange/blue)sounds like you lean towards a brighter color. The
pic of the blue car(its a French blue)shows this. The French blue color
is now very trendy.Cars from Mustangs to Jaguars to some exotics
are using it.I'd be cautious on this type of color since it may get
"old" fast.In addition, the body design of the Z(IMO) works better with
certain colors. The design of the 350 does not need a whiz-bang paint
color to make it look good.In fact, the Z may look worse hid under some
wild color. Its like putting ketchup on a prime steak.
If it were me,I'd choose a color that has not been done on a Z.You
will have something different, the car will look updated.Personally,I'd
do a dark grey.Or,a dark green(British racing green).A maroon shade
will also work. The last models of Pontiac/GTO's etc had a great shade
of a burgandy color.Looks similar to the shade of leather Aigner uses
for their goods.Very rich looking.
I'd really steer away from the French Blue.To me,it just does not work.

Thats my car. I cant really do a dark color otherwise the lines of the front bumper that are painted black will not show.

My buddy has been working at a body shop for sometime now and he just invested into getting his own booth and wanted to start a little side business of his own.

Interior everything is stock black... Except little stuff like the waterfall which is painted silver

I personally like the colors that lotus uses. My three favorite colors are lotus production colors:

Titanium storm:

Chrome orange:

And that sexy green that they use for the v6 model:

don't mean to thread jack but I have a thread in the Photoshop section. I'm also in the same boat as you, car is getting fender work along with new a bumper and side. I have a Dayton blue Z and if I don't keep it the same color I narrowed it down to Honda's root beer metallic or Porsches macadamia metallic...theres a few colors in my thread that someone had Photoshoped if you want idea's.

Those colors are amazing... however I think the car needs to be sleeker to pull it off? I dont really know and my photoshop skills are nonexistent....

Well if it were me, I'd to titanium storm in a heart beat. Pictures just don't do that color justice. Its a pearl color that's very subtle.

The other two are head turners for sure, but on your car I think that a bright color would be overbearing.

Lol that's why I posted a pic of my car and a few colors I like in the ps section, because I've never used ps til a week ago, I'm on a 30 day trial version of cs6 and watching a lot of YouTube. I can ps a bumper and such but color change isn't as easy as YouTube shows especially on black parts

Easiest way to do it is to do a selection mask. Paint the area you want to change in a new channel. Then press the "load channel as selection" button.

You can do it with a new path, but I always find clicking the little path tool a pain.

I like the porshce grey a lot but I fear that the black accents on my bumper will not be noticed as much with a dark color.
