Went to test install the new bride seats today, except the rear mounts to the driver side didn't exactly 'line up'



Rails are authentic, my question is: are all rails for all years/models the same?

Or am I supposed to transfer a piece from the stock seats? This is only on the driver side seat.

All years should be the same. I had the same problem with my Sparco mounts. My first thought was cannibalizing the stock seats as well but I don't think it can be done without significant fabrication and destroying the stock seats. I eventually just wiggled the thing around with the other mounted screws loosened until I was able to manhandle the screw into the hole. I had a rubber mallet as well. ... although yours loos worse then mine was. Let us know what you come up with and good luck.

That bracket is definitely not for a 350z.

 

Heat it up with a torch and hammer away untill it lines up.

 

I would say to send it all back. This is obviously not what you paid for.

 

whom ever told you those were 350 rails, were obviously on to many "rails" of their own. find out what rail that is, sell it, and buy the right one for the car.

 

Drivers side on a Japanese Z33 == the passenger side on a US Z33. If your rails are authentic and you got a drivers side rail with the seat, you've got the wrong one.

 

Correct me if Im wrong but,

The rear two bolt holes on both the pass and drivers are at the same angle, it's only the front left bolt hole on the passenger seat that isn't the same due to the transmission tunnel.

From JPN to North American all the bends and welds should all be the same except the fact that the driver seat and pass seat are opposite.

These are the RO rails for the 350z, I have the MO's (only difference is the top mounting plate for bottom mount seats vs side mount seats) compare your rails to these, the mounting holes for your seat should be the same as these IMO.

Wow that's pretty far off.

 

Did someone sit in the seat before it was installed? Just a guess based on this picture, but it looks like the mount in question is bent upward at the red arrow. If that's the case, heating/bending it downwards looks like it will put the hole back in position.

 

I have yet to see a well fitting, quality, aftermarket seat mount for a 350Z... good luck.

 

my bride MO's fit as good at the OEM rails do, im not sure which brands in particular you would be referring to but cheap rails = cheap quality like anything else in live. get what you pay for.

 

Yep. I actually found that out by accidentally starting off with the wrong seat in the first place, I had test fitted the driver seat on the passenger side. The floor holes and the brackets didn't line up at all.

I have no idea if these are RO or MO, i must have missed it when going under. They are definitely z33 rails though. I will check again, when I remove the seat.

Interestingly enough, the way that rear bracket bends to form that triangle, it hits the floor perfect enough that the seat actually feel and appear mounted.

Yes, these were actually off of Amir's Z, then Nismo1390 had them for about a few weeks then sold them. And I sat in them when they arrived but I doubt they got bent like that, if you look closely the bar is set to purposely be a 'double diagonal' shape. I'm almost sure this is how they are designed, but meh who knows.

The passenger seat rails and mounts fit flawlessly..

 

Honestly there were no issues when installing these in my '08 Nismo. Took me a total of about 30 minutes to remove, swap the seat belt harness, and install each one. Really hope you get this figured out bro.

 

Was gunna text you actually, to see if you had any detailed pics of the install. Buts its alright, I might get new rails altogether anyway, they where in amir's car for 3 years.

 

when i had recaros i thought my rail was wrong, (didn't line up). the slider ended up only sliding one side slightly, all i had to do was dlide it back. dont know if this will help you.
i was so frustrated that i didnt see the obvious problem
