Carbon Fiber steering wheel wrap "face lift" DIY
Twin charge z is getting a face lift inside... The steering wheel clear coat on the "aluminum brush look" side plates, is flaking off. So before I sell the car to the lucky new owner, Im going to do a nice touch up
Step one: Measure out a slip of any kind of wrap you want to apply.
>make sure you leave about 1/4inch excess of wrap all the way around so you can tuck in the edges .... Completely remove the back paper and apply the slip onto the surface evenly that you want wrapped. You may peel up and re apply if you miss judge placing.
Step Two: Heat up the wrap and mold it over all the corners smoothly, Try to smooth out all bubbles as you do this. Pull up and re-lay if you need to.
>trim excess wrap and begin to tuck the wrap away. You can do this hot or cold. Hot is better in my opinion...
Step three: After you nip'n tuck, use a heat gun or hair dryer to heat up the wrap, use a small sharp object to pop the bubbles and squeeze out the air...
>this is where you girl can help you
After you do both sides, this is what it will look like:
If you look to the right, the custom gauge face plate is a real carbon fiber plate that was custom fitted to hold my gauges> to me they look the same. I think this looks good. It changes the attitude of the cars interior by 30%. its cheap and easy. maybe 32mins to do. And your girl can help you
Thanks for reading. Look out on youtube soon for my new teaser vids
