I am kinda in the same boat. My brother backed into my car and damaged the front bumper, hood, fender and broke all but one tab on my headlight "but didnt scratch it". I blew the ins. money and found a black OEM hood for $150, new bumper and painted for $315 and plastic welded the tabs back to the light. Lucky as I got I have not put the parts on other than the light, then it got hailed on and beat it up. I ordered a new OEM roof skin for $375 from my friend at nissan and found a black OEM hatch on here for $400, that is complete with glass, light and plastics. I am just ready to get it all back together finally LOL.

Welp this weekend went differently than planned. Rained half the dang day so I only got a small portion of my list accomplished.

Got both my window motors replaced!

Also found the rubber gasket piece that attaches to the end of the window had fallen off into the inside of my drivers door... probably from beating on the side of the door to get my old window motor to work. Fixed that up and noticed this...

Thats the crossover for my tweeters and front speakers. I'll be cleaning and replacing those connection points soon. So much for our doors being water tight...

Also fixed my A-pillar molding...

Take a look at whats still exposed on the roof.

Do you guys know how hard this would be to fix? I'm unsure on how to go about that one.

Also fiberglassed the small crack i made when screwing on one of the sideskirts. And before you say anything, the bolts are not the final looking finished bolts i will be using. They are just holding it up for now.

Still need to sand it down and get the back when i take it off the car for primering.

One last anecdote.

How is the best way of attacking this? I was thinking of heating it up and hammering it out as best as possible, then body filler it in and sand it down. Then paint.... Any thoughts?

Until next week... thats all for now

Update:

Well got my stuff primered this weekend.

and my car is all naked again until i get stuff back from paint.

I should get my stuff back from paint in a couple weeks. So until then I'll be doing an oil change, coolant flush, wrapping some interior pieces, and alot of cleaning.

Oh and just a little teaser for next weekend...

Almost there....

and a little teaser for next week...

So far I'm pretty happy with everything. Once I get it all put together and cleaned/clayed/polished/and waxed the color should match pretty much spot on. You can tell a little difference now mainly because my car is filthy and the kit is spotless.

Did an oil change and a coolant flush this week too.

Next week I should be finishing up. Side skirts, assembling the interior, and fixing my radiator fans is about all i have left.

Thoughts welcome.

Coming together awesome man! What brand amuse front replica is that? and how much work was needed to get it to fit like that? Some 06+ headlights would be a huge plus as well.

also, you may consider painting the grill mesh black or something. it would look a lot better than the silver, imo.

The front is a Shine Spec-A front bumper.

As far as it fitting, it wasn't too far off to begin with. But I messed with it by myself for at least 2 hours getting it as good as i could. Just take your time and drill your spots out as close as you can. Oh and i replaced all the screws and plastic clips with nuts and bolts for more wiggle room.

I have her back together! Though it is never really "done", she is done for now.

What you guys think? honest opinions welcome.

So far I have gotten 100's of people saying they like it, so thats a good start. I'm pretty happy with everything. It is a lot of work, but one heck of a good time.

Looks good. IMO it would look better with the grill are of the front bumper in black. Also the mesh in black. Good job though! Sweet combination.

Front mesh ruins the front.

I wish they made filler using horizontal lines instead of mesh. It would look much better imo. I like your car though, nice work man (* '-')b

Looks good man! Great progress, it's cool to see a Z getting fixed up DIY.
I also did a quick photoshop of what your Z would look like with a black grill, hope you don't mind. Maybe it'll help you make your mind up

Hey man, nice job working on your own car. Quick question for you? Is that rear spoiler the factory Nissan one? Thanks.
