Default Door Removal

Crashed at the track. Destroyed driver side door (among other things). Trying to do most of the work myself since insurance does not cover. Got a driver side door off another car, same color, good match. All it needs is to be bolted on.

FSM does not show door removal or installation anywhere that I can find (it is not in the exterior/interior section anyway).

Hinges are located way up behind the back edge of the front quarter panel. It does not look accessible without removing front quarter panel. Anyone ever done this? Does the quarter panel have to come off?

If so, I'll probably let the body shop do it when they do some other repairs.

The front fenders probably has to come off, but the front fenders are fairly easy to remove i do believe.

The door comes off really easy, if I had my car in front I me I could tell you how. The fender does not need to come off.

Yes, I'm an idiot. I was looking at where the hinge bolts to the frame. Where it bolts to the door is tight but still accessible.

Have you checked your hinges? They might have been damaged also. I don't remember what size the bolts are on the shell, probably 12 or 14mm.

If I remember correctly when taking out the window assembly it all came out as one unit. It's been almost 5 years since I've done it though.

The hinges look okay and even though the external sheet metal of the door was all bashed in, the door still opened and closed okay and even the window worked. I'm going to try to use the window in the donor door. If it doesn't work I'll put the original in it.

The donor window is tinted and mine are not. The tinting looks cheap so if the window/motor work then I'll just strip the tinting off.

Edit:the nuts are 12mm and the damaged door came off easily as a one man job. Will take two to put the donor one on.
