Default Do I Fix or Replace?

Car is fairly new to me, just before I got it the previous owner was "sideswiped" it looks like it was from drifting but either way I need to get it fixed. The price was dropped $1600 for it..
Replace the whole quarter panel and door panel or work some sort of bondo style magic?

Hey, I had a dent on the same passenger rear quarter panel and it totaled to about $6k in repairs (other driver's insurance payed of course). The rear quarter panel is welded, which makes it a pain to work with.
I say repair the door panel and replace that quarter panel.

Step one, total car.
Step two, buy totaled car from owner for dirt cheap.
Step three, over fenders, door, paint.

edit: misread and didn't realize you already bought the car. Skip steps one and two.

anytime you cut a factory weld it is going to significantly reduce the value of the car

That is going to cost a LOT more than $1600 to have repaired, correctly.

There are so many curves in that rear fender . . . . to get it right it must be replaced.

Unfortunately it is VERY expensive to do this. (been there)

Wow that's crazy, 6k! Its a real eye sore but I paid very very little for it so I guess I can deal with it. I've read a ton of about that quarter panel and how its welded in, seems like its more hassle than worth fixing it. Thanks for all the replies guys, it sucks but at the same time I knew it when I bought and everything else about the car is good... Well minus the plasty dipped red wheels.. The old owner must have had a condition to do it that ugly and that bad.

Designated drift or track car?

I agree with either over fenders or big fender flares to just cover it. You could even part it out and get more than what you paid for it.

Replace the quarter, fuel door, door, possibly door handle, body kit. You've got a project on your hands

Repairing the door when the damage goes into the door handle isn't much fun. Way easier to replace with a used/new one and have a good body line to work off of when fixing the quarter panel.

That is all true. I am going to take the wheel off and see if I can at least get it a little bit out. Maybe if I'm lucky it'll come out alright then just get it painted over. Won't be perfect but never expected the car to be. I paid 5k for it if that makes anyone a little more comfortable. Has 125k miles with rebuilt motor with receipts at 110k. Runs great, burns a little oil but this is my biggest problem.

Also my headlights just don't work, anyone have any OEM ones they are looking to sell?

There's limited access to the door/inner quarter. I can't remember if there was access when the interior was pulled or not for accessing the inner part of the quarter. Part of your problem with trying to hammer it out is you'll be beating on your wheel well as well. I also forgot to add that to the list. Depending on how bad it is, and your sheet metal working skills you might need to replace the wheel well. That's if it's like the typical quarter on a car. I haven't done a 350Z yet, so I'm assuming it's like any other car.

Fck it. Bondo black magic it is. To legitimately repair it would cost way too much. Besides, if you do it good only you will know that you did to repair it. Well you and us.

^^ You could do that as well, try out your sculpting skills. Pull as much as you can; Duraglass first, then body filler and so on.

have you thought about paintless dent repair? I have seen some of the dents our local guy has been able to get out and this would be probably in the middle of the worst that I saw. Would still have to get it painted but this looks like about a $1000 job for a paintless dent guy. I bet they could get it close.
