Default shift plate light replacement, still not working

So after a long period of time I decided to go ahead and replace the light that lights up p,r,n,d. When I took it out I tested it and got some readings of the multimeter so obviously the bulb wasn't blown in the first place, no fuses are blown and this is the only interior light not working, so we tested the socket with the multimeter and didn't get any reading whatsoever but its possible the multimeter was dead,(used it later on something and didn't work) I noticed it not working after replacing the stereo awhile ago, and I'm 99.9% sure every clip was reconnected, but I can see the clip right in front of the shifter where the two wires from the light go is plugged in, but I don't know where the wires go from there. My question is what else could the problem be? Is there a wire that leads to the headunit supplying power to it? Cause there are a few wires by the headunit that are not connected to anything.

Thanks in advance for any help I'm at a loss of what it could be at this point

No idea what this weird P, R, N, D is you speak of on a z so I cannot contribute much. I would start with the stereo wiring since that's where it seems like you made the foul.

He is refering to the auto shift console lights, unfortunately I don't have an auto so i can't source the circuit for you. If you tapped into your dash dimming function for your radio I would definitely start there.

As far as I know the dash dimmer was not wired into the stereo. I had an audio shop wire in the PAC after a long night of not being able to figure out the Bose wires (i could probably hrs wire it now, but without the Bose amp its pointless to try and would be way too much wiring for me to want to do) but all the wires leading to the cars audio harness is labelled for each wires purpose and I haven't seen anything besides typical audio (speakers, remote, 12v ground etc..) maybe ill have to rip apart the waterfall/console and triple check everything. But I do believe everything's connected properly, but honestly when we were wiring in the headunit and couldn't figure it out we popped a fuse, I replaced it and checked out every other fuse to make sure they were good. I just can't figure out what besides a fuse, or blown bulb would cause it to not work..
