Default 06-08 high beam flash

Hey guys,

i'm just finishing wiring up some 06-08 depos i've modded to install on my 04 350z. I'm using some 6 pin and 8 pin connectors to create an adapter from the headlights to my halogen stock harness.

I was just wondering how the high beam flash function works on the 06-08 cars?

On the 03-05 there's a separate halogen bulb for the high beam so flashing the high beams just powers the high beam bulb for a split second. However the 06-08 uses a bi-xenon setup so the "high beams" really require the "low beam" to be on first. Turning on the high beam just operates the flapper for the cut-off plate inside the projector.

Does the high-beam-flash function on the 06-08 models simultaneously activate the HID bulb (low beam) as well as the flapper? If I just keep my stock wiring configuration, flashing my high-beams with the 06-08 lights installed would probably just activate the flapper without turning anything else on... I supposed I could wire a relay to activate the HID bulb in conjunction with the flapper.. or just live without the high-beam-flash function.

Yes on my 07 it also activates the HID. Not that that really does anything for the first second or so.

Haha nevermind. Apparently even on the 03-05 the high-beam-flash also activates the low beam.
